What is Skew?
Skew, or skewness, measures how lopsided a distribution is. Negative skew means a longer tail of large losses on the left; positive skew means a longer tail of large gains on the right. A normal distribution has a skew of zero.
Why Skew matters
Two strategies with the same average can carry very different risks if one has a long tail of big losses.
