What is Dow Jones?
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, often just called the Dow, is an index of 30 large, well-known U.S. companies. It is one of the oldest stock market measures and is quoted often in the news. Because it tracks only 30 companies and weights them by share price, it gives a narrower picture than broader indexes like the S&P 500.
