What is Tick Value?

A tick is the smallest price step a contract can move, and the tick value is what that step is worth in money. For the Micro E-mini S&P 500 the tick is 0.25 index points, worth $1.25 per contract.

Why Tick Value matters

Stops, targets and costs are often counted in ticks, so knowing the tick value turns them into dollars at risk.
