What is Commission?
A commission is a fee a broker charges for executing a trade, sometimes a flat amount per order and sometimes a per-share or per-contract rate. Many stock brokers now advertise zero commission, but other costs like spreads, regulatory fees, or payment for order flow can still apply. Futures and options usually still charge per-contract commissions.
Why Commission matters
Even small per-trade fees add up across many trades and quietly lower net results.
