What is Share?
A share is a single unit of a company's stock. If a company is divided into one million shares and you own one thousand of them, you own one tenth of one percent of the company. People often use the words stock and share interchangeably, though stock usually refers to the broader concept and a share to one countable unit.
Why Share matters
Prices, dividends, and ownership are all measured per share, so it is the unit you actually buy.
