What is Depth of Market?
Depth of market, often shown as a DOM, is a view of the order book that lists how much size is bid and offered at each price level near the current price. Greater depth means more orders are waiting, so larger trades can fill with less price movement. Depth can change instantly, and visible size is not a promise that those orders will stay.
Why Depth of Market matters
It hints at how much an order can move the price, which matters most for larger size and faster markets.
